The Bronx Talks
Mayra Rodriguez-Valladares MRV Associates on being Principal for a Day, March/April 2003

The value of this experience is absolutely incredible. It's really shown me some of the difficulties The value of this experience is absolutely incredible. It's really shown me some of the difficulties in being a principal. This job requires a lot of time, attention, and energy. The principal is really involved and extremely good at micro-managing and preparing these students not just to be academically prepared, but to be responsible global citizens. What's really amazing is that these kids are not only learning English and science but they're learning about each other. There are 100 students here speaking 21 languages, which means you have an Argentine child sitting next to a Pakistani, seated next to a Yemenite. As they learn about the US, they learn about the rest of the world from each other.
